MOGADISHU – President of Jubaland administration in southern Somalia said on Tuesday it would be very difficult to deliver the humanitarian aid into the areas controlled by the extremist group Al-Shabaab.

Speaking to the attenders at the one-day meeting on the drought response in Mogadishu, Ahmed Mohamed Madoobe expressed his concern over the people living under the control of Al-Shabaab.

“The people whom we are supposed to help are under of Al-Shabaab militants who would not accept any food relief reaching the victims of the drought.” Ahmed Madoobe said.

He added there must be a mechanism that the government and the international community should cope with the dire situation facing the people living in Al-Shabaab held areas.

Mr. Madoobe did not mention any intension of military action that could push Al-Shabaab fighters out of the drought hit villages to help the starving people.
